Importing organisations and users into kinde: handling errors

At a glance

Hey guys.
Running an import of organisations and users into Kinde: what happens if there are errors on the import? Do you feed those back through the UI at all, or does it fail silently for those organisations and users?

Hey ,
Thanks for reaching out.

Import errors are shown in the UI - you can read more details about import errors here

Let me know if you have any further questions.

So... we have a few thousand users to import, and the total number of users is not reflected in the outcome of the import in Kinde. But we don't have any error feedback to suggest that anything went wrong. We don't know why roughly 48 users didn't import successfully. It reports "<total> rows imported. Success!" but the actual number reflected in the total number of users in Kinde is less 48 users. In other words, it doesn't give us any feedback if there was an issue importing all users. Can you please look into this with some urgency? We are in the process of rolling this out to production users.

We think it's due to de-duplication of users based on their phone numbers provided in the CSV. Some users are sharing a phone number. So, on your end, it's not considered an error, but for us, it would be. I'm going to remove the phone number from our import because it's not used for MFA, and we were actually only interested in having it for that purpose.

Hey ,
I will get my team to look into this and get back to you.

Hey ,
We looked into the logs of your business and could see you attempted a few more imports.

Are you still having issues?
Please let us know how we can help you import all your production users.
